today... well, it was nothing short of magical.
we have been wanting to be better about lots of things.
eating habits.
spending our time during the day more wisely.
not just veg out in front of the blasted tv all day.
since i gave birth to the littlest monster i know, everything has gone down hill. 2 kids is hard. preparing meals healthy ones at that for your entire family while trying to care for two munchkins and keep your house in order... hahahha. yeah right. so, like i said, we started eating junk. all the time. and because of it, naturally, we felt like junk. you are what you eat. its true. we even each got a cold this winter!!! that hasnt happened since polly was 1. none of us had been sick in 3 years and ted hadnt ever. so really it was big news when it happened. it didnt last long for any of us, only a couple days, cause you know me and how i get crazy w my natural remedies.
of course in the last 6 mo or so, we have done much better. have been more conscious of our choices, made better ones, etc. but by the end of each day we were pigging out on oreos or going out for dinner due to laziness.
the last bit, we have been talking about being awesome. not just better, or good. awesome. we were sick of feeling tired and gross all the time.
today was the beginning. with out even thinking about it, i woke up and made a decision.
so of course, to start the day off right, i LIE to my kids.
yes, thats right. how terrible?! i know...
i had never had a problem w watching some tv each day, especially cause there is pbs and all of that educational crap on.
yet again, recently, we had gotten lazy with our parenting skills and my childrens hours of tv entertainment per day were reaching epedemic proportions.
so what did i say as we all drug our sleepy rear ends outta bed?
"OH NOOO!!! THE TV IS BROKEN!!!!"
they bought it. i didnt even have to do some fake try to not really turn it on trick or anything!
the pink one had a fit for a second. but as soon as i told her i had paint and canvas in the kitchen, she cheered right up and that was the last i heard.
i taped a long piece of paper to the table for the ted, gave them a handful of brushes cause you know, 4 and 1 year olds know the difference between the bristles and strokes of differenet brushes. and to town they went!!!
we had a great time together. klint was gone a lot of the day for business crap but was able to be home for dinner and that was a nice feature not like he usually isnt, but it was extra great on this day.
oh as a side note, the kids happily ate everything i served up.
and even asked for more!
i am one proud mama.
so, like i said before, we crafted a lot.
played out in the sunny shine of our back yard.
chalked.
all helped cooking.
and cleaning!
morning time paints while i made juice and prepared bruffus.
"GREEE!"
which is ted talk for green. in his way too big shirt.
way to mix up those colors son!
my beauty queen.
as a babe, her favorite animal was a penguin.
it faded for a bit but has come back full force!
the penguin waddle.
she changes her outfits only 17 times a day.
no biggie.
my "broken" tv
it stayed off ALL DAY!!!
and even since they have been asleep, klint and i have both refrained.
p: mom whats this?
i: ummmmm... i dont know? i am a terrible quick thinker/ liar.
p: ill just open it and find out.
i: no dont do that...
p: let me just see....
what am i supposed to do?
if i snatched it, she would know i was trying to hide something from her. that would be very terrible.
i: its just like a big sticker that grown up girls like to play with sometimes.
p: ooooh.... ok, ill just put it here. its kind of weird. and boring.
liner. on my bed.
those horribly ugly failed attempt at cute string eggs, didnt turn out SO terrible after all.
dont get me wrong, they arent the best quality, but still nice enough to hang for decoration.
this could sound outrageously horrible to most...
green juice, an apple and raw pumpkin seeds for breakfast?
salads for lunch?
raw fruits and veg for snacks?
cauliflower crusted pizza, topped with homemade sauce and spinach for dinner?
raw "cookie dough balls" which are really only processed almonds, walnuts, oats, cinnamon and honey w a few dark choc chips (all raw) thrown in for your treats??????
lemon water to drink all day?
it ALL tasted so good.
and trust me, if it didnt, my kids would let me know, esp polly.
the extra time together was glorious.
for us, we honestly and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I love the Painting in the morning idea. Do you leave it on the table as a tablecloth for lunch and dinner? Remember the time Kelly came out of the bathroom swinging a tampon by the string?? wanting to know what it was. hahahahaha
ReplyDelete...I feel like you should send me the recipe for that "raw cookie dough"...that sounds delish!!
