late mothers day

a day to celebrate mothers.
im a bit late... meh. oh well.
being a mother is wonderful. sure, it takes easily 3 times longer to do anything than it would take a non-childed person, makes you want to rip your hair out and you spend about 95% of your time doing only things for others, like cleaning messes, making food, getting dressed and wiping bums but hey... its totally worth it. i am so blessed! cause while it is very difficult, i still get to do tons of fun things... i mean really, doesnt every one wish they could stay in their jammies, color, paint, do puzzles, play games, watch cartoons, have dance parties, bake muffins, have food fights, go shopping and play at the park EVERY DAY of their lives? if not, there is something seriously wrong. and i am sorry for you. dont get me wrong, i definitely love and look forward to bed time each and every evening but i feel like all i ever hear about is how taxing it is on one to have kids to take care of all day long and blahdy blahdy blah..... agreed. but shut up and enjoy the greatness of it already. its only cause you decide to linger on the bad that it rarely seems good. even after my kids are down and im enjoying my alone time, it still warms my heart to go tidy up the toy room or to put the crayons back in the basket. its cause of them that my house is a constant disaster. and thats alright by me.
a good piece of artwork, by story people, hanging in our toy room reads,
"there are lives i can imagine with out children, but none of them have the same laughter and noise."
perfection.

anyway, when that holiday was on its way, i started to notice more, all of the funny things that mothers do, that normally would make zero sense or seem very outlandish.
here are a few:
-find monkeys in your pocket.
-dont freak out when poop touches you has to be your own childs of course. anyone elses and you will dry heave.
-say things like "do you have a booger? dont dig too deep or you will get a bloody nose!"
-have small rocks in the bottom of your washing machine after possibly every load of laundry.
-love dandelions cause they were picked with love, by tiny hands, just for you.
-start to choose comfort and practicality over style.
-have your keys on a carabiner cause they can clip so easily onto your belt loop and you wont have to struggle to find them on your way out of the store while already fumbling with everything else.
-get excited about a parking spot next to a cart corral with a cart in it rather than one up close.
-crawl around on the floor, howling like wolves.
-stand on the couch and hold your baby up as high as you can while shouting "AAAAAHHHHHHSAVENYAAAAAAHHHHH!" cause your 4 year old will die from laughter.
-talk about poop on an hourly basis.
-love, more than anything, the moments when your children snuggle up to you, rest their prush little heads on your shoulder and you could just stay there... in the silence, listening to nothing but their cute little breaths, while sniffing their hairs that at sometime can smell not so good cause they are 4 and 4 year olds are stinky, but you do it anyway cause its them, FOREVER and absolutely nothing could be more perfect. until they whisper "mom, you're the best" or  "mommy aaaa-youuuuu love you in ted talk."

this mothering thing is the bees knees.
oh and so is my mom. she is the best. better than anyone elses. and i am sad to have to be so danged far from her.

alright. passed all of that crap i wanted to say.

this year, i was allowed to sleep in. which was probably my fave part.
and incase anyone was wondering what their sorry souls are missing out on, not being lucky enough to wake up next to this hunk of hottie every day..... feast your eyes....

all of my motherly efforts were rewarded with flowers, a balloon and donuts for breakfast.

which obviously they enjoyed.

and lucky i,  polly grew/ decorated this for me at pre-school.
BAM! another reason to wish you were me.

later we went to grama gwens for a nice little bbq in the lovely weather dinner.
a man worked....

while the rest played.

uncle kale is pretty cool.

see? told ya...

ant karissa telling polly that the apron she is wearing used to be hers.
cute.
also, this pic was horribly underexposed and i tried to fix it as best as i could

some weird ones chose to stretch...

and love their dog.

and others decided to scare off birds.

mother + men

mother + women

mother + sons = laughter

polly was proud of her "gift."

then we all had left over cupcakes from the wedding.
which i will blog on later.

member how i let her choose all of her own outfits? yep... she is still really good at it.

  1. I love everything about this post - it had it all!
Moms, sleeping in, donuts for breakfast, balloons, flowers, BBQ's, puppies, and cupcakes. Take that and add the Tanners, and these really all are my favorite things!
